Guide for NCLEX Preparation The first step for NCLEX preparation is to apply in the state in which you wish to be licensed. Once this is done, the next step is to register for the NCLEX examination either by mail, phone, or online. Registration is done with Pearson VUE (the administrator of the exams). All necessary fees must be paid before the NCLEX preparation when registration is completed. Detailed fee information as well as information on what is necessary for NCLEX preparation, when registering for the NCLEX can be found online at the NCSBN website, as well as in the Candidate Bulletin (also found at the NCSBN website). Once registration has been completed and approved, a candidate will receive a confirmation of their registration directly from Pearson VUE. This is where your NCLEX preparation takes speed. The board of nursing in the state in which you wish to be licensed then approves the application that was submitted, and this makes the candidate eligible to take the exam. Once the candidate has been approved by the state board of nursing, Pearson VUE then sends the candidate an Authorization to Test (ATT). NCLEX preparation process ends at this point. |

Wikipedia Description of NCLEX
NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) is an examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States. There are two types, the NCLEX-RN and the NCLEX-PN. NCLEX examinations are developed and owned by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. (NCSBN). NCSBN administers these examinations on behalf of its member boards which consist of the boards of nursing in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and four U.S. territories American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and the Virgin Islands. To ensure public protection, each board of nursing requires a candidate for licensure to pass the appropriate NCLEX preparation, NCLEX-RN for registered nurses and the NCLEX-PN for vocational/practical nurses. NCLEX examinations are designed to test the knowledge, skills and abilities essential to the safe and effective practice of nursing at the entry-level. PLEASE NOTE: The NCLEX is NOT about memorization but rather one must understand the concept behind critical thinking. As of 2010, the NCLEX is focusing a lot on how to delegate and prioritize as well as infection control. NCLEX examinations are provided in a computerized adaptive testing (CAT) format and are presently administered by Pearson VUE in their network of Pearson Professional Centers (PPC). |
NCLEX Format The National Council of State Boards of Nursing has partnered with Pearson Vue to deliver the NCLEX. Pearson Vue offers the NCLEX-RN as well as the NCLEX-PN
Preparation. NCLEX preparation is left to the nursing student. |

Passing the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse) exam is a must for candidates who require licensure as a registered nurse (RN) recognized by all US state and territorial boards of nursing. Although most of the exam items are written at the application or higher levels of cognition, the exam may include items at all of the cognitive levels. These cognitive levels may be memorization or recalling, knowledge, analysis and application. The exam's content is based on client needs such as safe effective care environment, management of care, safety and infection control, health promotion and maintenance and also psychosocial integrity. Physiological integrity will include basic care and comfort, pharmacological and parenteral therapies, lowering of risk potential and physiological adaptation. |
NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN Exams One of the main differences between the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN is the different number of questions. The minimum number of questions for NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN are 75 and 85 respectively. Both of these exams require the same basic understanding of nursing practice and knowledge. Both exams have questions presented with four multiple choice answer scenarios (MCQ). In some cases, the NCLEX is using a more difficult question format that necessitates multiple right answers to be selected. The material covered is however the same. Study NCLEX course brings you the right combination of theory and practice to excel at the NCLEX exam by studying effectiveness. Study NCLEX is truly a high yield course. On the NCLEX-RN, nursing students have to concentrate for a longer period of time due to the higher number of questions. If the computer does not turn off at the minimum number of questions, the student must continue to answer each question in a reasonable amount of time. Questions related to delegation of responsibility are naturally different between these exams. Registered nurses will be made to assign tasks to practical nurses and nursing assistants while prioritizing their patients. Similarly, practical nurses will be asked questions that require assigning tasks to nursing assistants and requesting more assistance from registered nurses.
